Chris McCleave

Director, Government & Stakeholder Relations, Fortis Alberta

Chris is currently the Director or Stakeholder and Government Affairs at FortisAlberta. Prior to his current role, Chris worked for 12 years at ENMAX Corporation. Chris is well known for spending the last 20 years of his career tackling some of the electricity industries biggest opportunities and challenges at the intersection of business, politics and policy at both the provincial and federal levels. His career has spanned generation, transmission, distribution, and retail, and has included everything from advocacy to acquisitions. 

The FortisAlberta electricity distribution system spans 240 communities across Alberta and covers 60% of Alberta’s grid. FortisAlberta delivers safe, reliable electricity to more than 600,000 homes, farms, and businesses every day. 

Chris has a BA from Western University and an Executive MBA from the Queen's University Smith School of Business. In 2023, Chris was presented with the Ian Anderson Chair of the Year Award from the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. The recipient is chosen for their depth of understanding of the policy issues facing the business community and for leadership shown to committee members. Chris also serves as the Chair of the Electricity Canada Government Relations Strategy Committee and is a Venture Partner and Advisor for the venture capital firm Raiven Capital.
